App Store screenshot sizes for iPhone (2026)

Every size App Store Connect accepts, which one you actually have to provide, and the file rules that get uploads refused.

The short answer

Every iPhone size Apple accepts

App Store Connect organises screenshots by display class, not by device. Find the class, match the pixels.

Why App Store Connect rejects screenshots

The dimensions of one or more screenshots are wrong

The pixel size is not one of the numbers in the table above. A screenshot taken on a simulator that is not in the list, or one resized by hand, will trigger this — even if it is off by a single pixel.

Fix: Re-render the screen at an exact accepted size instead of scaling the original.

Screenshots can't contain alpha channels or transparencies

The PNG carries an alpha channel. Figma, Sketch, Preview and most export pipelines write one whether or not anything is actually transparent, so the image can look completely opaque and still be refused.

Fix: Export PNG without an alpha channel (colour type 2), or flatten to JPEG.

You must upload at least one screenshot

The 6.9" slot is empty. Every smaller class is optional because Apple scales your largest set down, but that largest set has to exist.

Fix: Upload between 1 and 10 images to the 6.9" slot.

The file format is invalid

HEIC straight off an iPhone, WebP, or a PDF export. App Store Connect takes only PNG and JPEG, in sRGB.

Fix: Convert to PNG or JPEG before uploading.

Capturing screenshots at the right size

  1. 1. Pick the device. In Xcode open Window → Devices and Simulators and run on a 6.9" iPhone (iPhone 18 Pro Max, for example). Capturing there means the pixels already match.
  2. 2. Save the screen. In Simulator press ⌘S, or File → Save Screen Shot. The PNG lands on your desktop at the simulated device’s native resolution.
  3. 3. Do not resize afterwards. Scaling a screenshot to fit another slot is what produces the wrong-dimensions rejection. Re-render instead — which is what SatinShot does.

This works the same whichever way the app was built: Expo, React Native, Flutter and SwiftUI all end up as a PNG from the same Simulator.

Skip the arithmetic

Drop your simulator screenshots into SatinShot and get back a ZIP at 1320 × 2868 and 1284 × 2778 px, PNG without an alpha channel, numbered in order. Free, no signup, and the images never leave your browser.

Questions

What size should App Store screenshots be in 2026?

1320 × 2868 px in portrait for the 6.9" iPhone class. Apple also accepts 1290 × 2796 and 1260 × 2736 for that same slot. Every smaller display size is optional — App Store Connect scales your largest set down.

Do I have to upload a set for every iPhone size?

No. One set for the largest class is enough to submit. Providing a smaller class on top only matters if you want a different composition on those devices.

What are the App Store screenshot sizes in landscape?

The same numbers with width and height swapped. A 6.9" landscape screenshot is 2868 × 1320 px. You cannot mix orientations inside one display size.

How many screenshots can I upload?

1 to 10 per localization. The first two or three are what most people see before they tap anything, so order matters more than count.

Why does App Store Connect say my screenshots have the wrong dimensions?

The image is not at one of the accepted pixel sizes. This is usually a screenshot from a simulator Apple does not have a slot for, or an image that was scaled after capture. Re-render at an exact size rather than resizing.

Can a PNG with an alpha channel be uploaded?

No. Apple rejects any image that carries transparency information, even when every pixel is opaque. The PNG has to be written without an alpha channel.

Shipping on iPad too? That is a separate set with its own sizes. SatinShot covers iPhone today.
